General anaesthetic is really safe. Generally the medicine is given intravenously by the anaesthetist who is also accompanied by the nurse. The oxygen mask is worn by patient while the whole treatment. The “depth” of this anaesthetic can vary depending on the treatment.
This doctor anaesthetist decides whether the patients is going to go under general anaesthetic and will choose the best option of anaesthetic for them. Together with assisting nurse they are looking after the patient’s wellbeing during the whole procedure.
